What you get with a custom coloring canvas

Turn your own photo into a paint-your-own stretched canvas. Using the live converter on this page, pick a photo from your phone or computer, choose Simple, Medium, or Detailed line work, and toggle Thicker lines if you want wider outlines that are easier to paint up to with a brush.

Because a gallery-wrapped canvas folds 1.25″ of fabric around the wooden frame edges, we keep your entire line drawing centered inside the front face on a clean white background. Nothing is cropped from your photo, and important details like ears, faces, or rooflines never wrap around the sides of the frame. When you click Add to Cart, your browser renders a 300 DPI print file for your selected canvas size and sends it to Printful for production.

Canvas specifications and what to paint it with

Each canvas is produced on Printful’s Canvas (in) blank, hand-stretched and ready to paint right out of the box:

• Canvas fabric: Poly-cotton blend canvas with a fabric weight of 10.15 +/- 0.74 oz./yd.² (344 g/m² +/- 25 g/m²).
• Stretcher bars: Hand-stretched over 1.25″ (3.18 cm) thick solid wood stretcher bars for a sturdy gallery profile that needs no outer frame.
• Print durability: Printed with fade-resistant black outlines on a bright white surface.
• Hardware included: Mounting brackets are included so you can hang your finished painting as soon as it dries.

The textured poly-cotton surface is built for brush and marker media:

• Acrylic paint: Standard craft or artist acrylics cover smoothly over the woven canvas texture and dry to a permanent finish.
• Poster paint and tempera: Easy-cleanup washable paints work well for kids’ painting parties and family craft nights.
• Acrylic paint markers: Fine-tip paint pens let you fill smaller details or sign the corner cleanly.

Choose from three standard stretched canvas dimensions:

• 8″×10″ — $45: A compact portrait canvas suited for bookshelves, desks, or painting a favorite pet close-up.
• 12″×16″ — $62: A mid-size wall canvas with generous room for brushwork on portraits, couples, or houses (qualifies for free US shipping).
• 16″×20″ — $79: A statement wall size ideal for family projects, anniversary gifts, or living room display (qualifies for free US shipping).

Which photos work best

Our line-art tool traces edges and contrast in your original image. For a canvas that is fun and straightforward to paint, look for a photo with:

• One main subject: A clear shot of one pet, person, vehicle, or building creates open shapes that are easy to reach with a paintbrush.
• A plain background: Sky, grass, or a solid wall keeps the focus on your subject. Busy photos make busy pages—cluttered shelves, gravel, or dense foliage create lots of tiny lines that are harder to paint with a brush.
• Good lighting: Bright, even daylight without deep shadows helps the converter produce clean, continuous outlines.

• Production time: Typically 2 to 5 business days to print, stretch, and pack your canvas.
• Transit time: Typically 3 to 8 business days after production in the contiguous United States, or 8 to 14 business days to Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories via tracked national carriers.
